This is the question everyone asks when a seal arrives in your fishing ground is it a good sign or a bad......does he chase the fish away or is he there for the Abundance of fish....

Has Anyone got a theory on this one..

it usually means there are fish there, its just catching them when the seal is about is the hard part.. just as hard to catch them when there are no seal about

Hi Steve & Steve,

ya mate if I see a seal I usually assume I've picked my venue right i.e. there's fish there - the bluddy seal wouldn't be there otherwise would he - in fairness that's his livelihood so to speak.

Only on one or two very rare occasions have I seen fish feed in the presence of a seal; I think they can smell him or sense him but my general rule of thumb is if there's a seal about the fishing will be very very poor. I'd usually turn around and go home if it looks like he's not moving away
