Mike
Welcome to the forum.
Im not sure if this will work for you but it will work with rod sections that get stuck together. Maybe the butt of the rod near the extension will be too rigid but it might be worth trying anyway
First off, do not twist the two sections.
grip the extension tight with your thighs, just above your knees.
put some towels over the edge of a table or seat and rest the rod extension against it just below the joint to the extension, just to keep it stable really. Use common sense though and dont put too much pressure on it.
then grip the rod a couple of feet or so up the lower section and shake it up and down vigorously in small movements while gently pulling on it.
The idea is that the vibrations from the shaking will break the seal that has formed between the two sections. it will only move in tiny increments so persevere
Anyway its worth a try and I am sure plenty lads here will have other tried and tested methods so dont dispair!
One of them will work.
best of luck.

Thanks for the suggestion - I tried shaking it quite vigorously but I dont think the vibrations are doing their job because the rod is quite hard so im not really getting a transfer through to the reducer!!! Its not a huge inconvenience, just means that i cant swap between a trigger grip and standard one anymore and it gives me a good excuse to update my rod :D

Try running very hot water over the joint, several times if necessary - the expansion and contraction will sometimes free up the jammed section. Doesn't always work, but it has been known!

Hi Mike,
Pity it didnt work, it works well for rod sections though!
I was thinking the rod might be too stiff that low down but was worth a try.
Bigdens tip is worth a go! it works sometimes too.
On the plus side, any excuse for a new rod is a welcome one :D
