hey guys a few days ago i was walking along dollymount beach and just as i got half way up the beach i noticed a big black shape just washed up on shore, at first i thought it was mabe weed but when i saw the seagulls having a go at it i went over to see what it was. after i scared the lil monsters away i saw that it was no weed or a rock it was a fish. im sorry but i didnt take a picture of it. it was roughly around 3ft long and it was black and got lighter as you got closer to its belly, it bascialy looked liek a oversized dogfish but i know it aint a dogfish is it? i personally think it was a bull huss but i could be wrong. maybe it could be a small tope? ( which i doubt) or maybe a smoothound?( which i also doubt), but if it was a bull huss or a tope or a smoothound why was it on dollymount beach? can u catch those 3 speices of fish there :? or is this just a coinsadence that in ended up on the beach?
id apreiate ( sorry for my bad spelling  ) if some1 could tell me what out of the 2 speicies it could have being and is it actually possible to catch them off the beach?

cheers aaron

if it had a very dark back, then chances are it was a huss..
see pics below
they can get darker than shown, but they will have noticable spots along the flank and belly, and going from dark to light towards the belly.

id imagine it was a huss they can be caught locally and probably got pushed into the beach with the east winds after it had died.

ps smoothhounds have been caught off the southern end of dollymount at times.
