There is a NZ guy getting plenty of air time on Today FM's Last word with Matt Cooper which is due to his very accurate long range weather forecasts. I had a look at his site today and was interested to see a link to fishing. I have attached his views which although generally relate to NZ & Aus, are relevant to this side of the globe. It seems to put more credence to Cortaz's theories. See attached, best times to fish in 2008!
All I need is work to quieten down so I can get out fishing.
Drseafish.

Matt Cooper seems to like this guy and has him on from time to time, he has a very interesting book called "Predicting the Weather by the Moon", well worth a read
Liam
as an aside his theories on global warming, climate change etc. go well against the norm too

I've known this stuff to be true for sometime.
You can actually buy a fishing watch based on this.
It gives you the details of the moon phase and chances of fish.
I don't know where he got it, but I met him in Gran Canaria and he used it to predict when to fish for Marlin.

Great reading there.
I must start to get the basics right myself however, before trying to be too technical
No doubt that this info will defo appeal to the more seasoned angler though.

8) the moon was "NEW" @ 6am. on the 6th. fishermannum1+dave fished over this KEY time, and had what could be described as an "outstanding" session. The chart, 127 fish in first 10 days of april///////// on the 6th. (day of N.M.) 4 anglers got 42 fish, on the 10th, 4 anglers got 9 fish.......

No doubt Solunar theory works. Ledgering last year I averaged higher catch rates on Best / Good days, & struggled on poor days. With carefull planning I avoided blanking all year.
As an example, knew I should have gone fishing today, but as wife is visting her sister in Dublin, decided to give it a go. Solunar rated the day as poor & it was, 3 fish in 5 hours. My last trip to the same place was at the beginning of Feb, same bait same tactics & over 20 fish in a similar time period. The difference was that day was rated as Best.
Art, next time I'm over, I'll show you the programme as it's pretty neat.

Very interesting. My father used to think that the moon phases had an impact on fishing, didn't think much of it at the time. Seems like there is some evidence to support this from what you guys are saying. Excellent post!
