portaferry

Hi

Was up in Portaferry on Saturday visiting friends in Dundalk and then up to the aquarium. Very nice. Saw the marks that spartacus mentioned and what amazed me was that there were shoals of fish feeding in the blow-out from the ferry's screws - looked like mullet but I could not be sure in low light...

Nice spot, some currents mind in mid channel, very like Achill Sound....

Marty

was trying to pinpoint the mark but was unable to find a detailed map with local place names. maybe you can follow this.

Moving south from Kearney but before Ballyquintan the road runs close to a bay with a path running behind the beach leading to a house. On the Kearney side of the bay are a couple of small weedy inlets with sand bottoms. the flounder were caught in these inlets at close range.

Any winter whiting cod marks close. will be back up over Xmas. Always thought that the rocks at the point behind the house (in bay above) might be good

Good luck
