Not a good time of year to be targeting bass

http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/ wrote:Bass By-Laws: A Reminder
* A bag limit of 2 bass per angler in any one 24hr period.
* An overall size limit of 40cm (tip of snout to end of tail), where all smaller fish are returned alive.
* A closed season from 15 May to 15 June.
* Sale or offer for sale of bass (other than bass which has been imported into the State) prohibited.

there should be a few flatties about, not sure when the mack arrive down that end of the country

i'm sure a few of the local lads will fill you in on what can be caught in the area and other beaches around

hi Ricky

I would not be worried about the bass ban - there are plenty of other species to keep you busy and late May shoudl see the fishing come on leaps and bounds... try for pollack and ballen wrasse on rock marks on standard float gear (a lot stronger than coarse kit) using sandeel as bait or even strips of mackerel. Small crabs are a killer biat for big wrasse. The area west of Tramore, along the coast road has some good spots.

You find yourself tussling with a big wrasse, you'll never go coarse again! Mackerel should be inshore by then, but it depends on the weather...

Keep an eye hear on all the reports and drop a few people PMs (private messages) to get them to tell you how to use rigs & tactics...

Hope this helps

i had them up to 6lb last year not to far from portally,a 4lb one will give some fight, small crabs will pick up the better fish,
