I have just filled the spinning reel with 20lb supa-braid.
Never used braid before so:
It will be used on clean and rocky ground for lure fishing(Bass,Pollock and Garfish) will I need to attach a lenght of mono up from the lure to handle the contact with rocks etc? I dont envisage braid standing up to much contact with rocks as it is so thin ?
What do you set the drag to when using braid ?
Any information welcome.
Cheers.

Danny,
I suppose the first thing to watch out for when you start using braid is not to overfill the spool, unlike mono braid doesn't need to be filled to the rim in fact when it is I've found it more prone to forming loops and tangling during the cast. In relation to leaders, I normally use 2-3 ft mono or fluorocarbon leader for spinning. I find it helps prevent problems caused by the lure folding back on the line during the cast, tangling and usually damaging the braid in the process. I use an albright knot to connect the mono / fluoro to the braid. As for drag setting with braid, I normally set my drag a little lighter than I would with mono to allow for the lack of stretch in braid and to help prevent pulling the hook. Its also worth getting into the habit of knocking the bail arm over manually and checking the line after each cast, its often the cause of many tangles crack off's during casting.

line twist can be a problem when lure fishing consider a good swivel ie one with ballbearings to eliminate the problem i use a grinner to grinner 20 or 30 braid and slightly less for the leader then if you do get snagged you wont loose your braid (hopefully :? )i like amnesia for the leader just cant remember why?15 lb for sea spinning
