rock marks on bray head

anyone have any rockmarks along bray head they would be willing to share?? went for a walk along it at LW yest and recon it has to hold something off it. any advice treated with great secrecy

has to be rays,smoothies etc off it at summer time, gonna do a bit of fishing off this season and try and work it out, problem would be most of the marks are unaccessible and are dangerous looking

if you have a helecopter to drop us and collect us i will show you some :lol: some nice spots but you want a small boat to get at them ,have you ever tried the very end of greystones north beach paul, its one hell of a hike have had good winter codling and mad sport during the summer ,i havnt fished it in years cos i,m to old and lazy now if you fancy a go i,m as mad as the next man :shock: WELL?

as for bray head, i walked about half way along it over the weekend. def a spot for travelling light, but there is a beach that looks like it gives access to a deep mixed ground mark only a few hundred meters from the bray side. think there used to be some sort of bathing place there before. any one ever fished there

thats nailers cove i think it was a huge spot years ago with swimming galas and even international qualifiers held in it have seen pictures of it in its hayday with pontoons and swimming lanes for comps , every year someone ends up falling down bray head and severly injuring themselves so take care and bring a buddy paul it,s a dodgy spot for climbing :shock:

I fished greystones North down the end once, it's a long hike with all the gear I'll tell ya.
I didn't have any luck but that's fishing.

Tip I was given is to fish into a kelp bed not too far out, heavy line straight through, use a rig with a long body and a short 8-12 inch snood up towards the top, flatten the lead hop it out and the whole lot should sit on top of the kelp with the bait above the kelp, the fish will pop out to take the baits and hit into them before they drag you back into the kelp. It's supposed to be a great spot for a few codling.

Bray Head.....a lots of big wrasse....decent size pollack and unknown species that run like mad and snap my Megabass Vision One Ten lure....big bass???big pollack???

The problem is the spot is quite dangerous....slippery rock....cliff...and some spot even required u to cross the railway track carrying a carbon rod under live wire.....but sometimes its quite hard to resists the temptation of such good spot...just be sensible and fish with buddy....

Tried it a couple of time in winter.....fishing was very poor....the wrasse and pollack was during summer and autumn....

access to the north beach (and presumably bray head from this side) is, from what I understand, going to be a big problem soon enough. work has already begun and seems to be moving along fairly rapidly at darcy's field.
At least 400m of the beach to the north of the current harbour will be covered over and they are also building a good bit out to sea.

Not sure how this will effect the shore fishing on the greystones side of Bray Head but its sure to cause some sort of disturbance, certainly access will be a bit of a problem anyway.

Would be wary of fising the cove, the company you'd find yourself with may not be too welcoming. A good bit around the currently used train tracks are replaced by the old ones so squeezing against fences as trains go by a few feet away and hoping over the tracks don't become the issue anymore. Anyway, in my opinion, the journy to further marks isn't worth it and I would not recomend it. However I would be very interested to scout out the greystones end, had always presumed it too be too shallow and foul ground to be worth the hike

as a young buck i would cycle along the cliff walk and lower my bike half way down the hill on a rope as i slid down on my butt and leave the bike down on a ledge fish all day then pull the lot back up 70/80 feet ,1 rod ,1 reel ,bait and a carrier bag for my catch with 2 rigs and 2 weight,s .oh man was fishing simple in them days and we used to catch loads :lol: (jesus i sound like an old lad :lol: )

Ive often wondered about fishing there since i moved to greystones i pass it twice a day and it does look like a good spot, 2weeks ago while heading home i spotted a shark crusing just under the water at about 30-40yds out on the greystones side of bray head, cant be 100% sure of the type but it had a fairly long tail and quite dark in colour, estimated size 10-15ft long, easily 150lbs+ :shock: i coudnt believe it, others on the train seen it too,, so might be well worth a trip but as the lads say safety first!!

Tried there last summer with mb3, couldn't really find an accessible mark so ended up fishing off a cliff about 60 ft up. The wrasse and Pollock we hooked into where pretty decent and couldn't get them before they dove for the rocks never mind up a cliff :roll: would definatley like to fish this place again if i could find easy access! I'd say species would be wrasse, pollock, huss, dogs, bass and congors at least. and defo a mark for rough ground gear!

Count me in! I walked from Greystones to Bray and back on Sunday and I couldn't get my eyes off those cliffs and rocks. I saw what looked like a few paths but haven't quite worked out yet how to get to them! :evil: There were a couple of anglers down there too, so there must be a way...

there is a path that runs along the top of the cliffs. its only about a foot wide but its def passable. dont know how far it went cos wen i walked there it was about 4 and she was afraid we would be out "when it got dark and the tide was coming in" :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: 2 hours of light and about 60 foot from the water :roll:

i recon that swimming spot would give access to some nice deep water and a little further on was a blanket of loose rock that looked like it would be under about 8 foot of water at HW, recon though that it would generally be a LW mark.

I seem to remember some1 put up a catch report last year saying they had a few cod off it.......... without giving away their marks they might give a few pointers please
