Frozen Black Lugworm

Is newspaper the best medium for wrapping black lugworm? Personally I think that they would be better rolled in cling film, at least then the juice of the worm is not been soaked up like it is with newspaper. The clingfilm would probably protect from freezer burn also.

Have purchased them both ways John and I much prefere Cling film.

I always used glossy magazine paper.....never a problem, the worms always come out without sticking because the blood or juice stays in the worm.....newspaper acts like blotting paper.

I presume that bait diggers roll in paper because it is faster for them. They also seem to keep better if they have been properly gutted with all the inners and mud removed.

How much for a roll of 10 near you? About €8-9 anywhere I go. Mostly €9. Thankfully I have not had to pay those prices for a while. Was in contact with a black lug digger from the UK that charges £2 per roll freshly gutted. He could not believe the price we pay over here. I suppose when you add on transport costs and the retailers 50% mark up them there is your E9 price.

when you freeze blacks they should be blown out anyway,so the best way of freezing is in an medium that dries the worm,ie newspaper why should you need to keep the guts and juices when frozen crystalize and damage the flesh of the worm,,dry the out to get the best results and the worm has to be blacks or yellow tail,,,
and save these very valuable packages for after a blow
