dingle peninsula or cahersiveen/valentia???

i would love some feedback on which peninsula is better,if any, cos we always go to dingle pen. for our annual trip but two of the lads want to try the next one down!! what do you guys(and girls) reckon on this cos two of us want to stay put in dingle, the fishin last year(july) was ok, but not great,but ive read in places that valentia area is , like alot of areas, a shadow of its former self. cheers booner.

Dingle hands down for me Booner, had some fine fishing there in early summer last year.

cheers pete, but did you ever fish the peninsula below or is general opinion that dingle is best? i thought some other locals may have at least a short opinion???? :?

We used to base ourselves around Waterville, mainly for the sea trout in Currane, but i found the bass fishing was just ok. Found Dingle more productive although saying that Kevin Brian is based in Waterville and does well enough. Liamo from the site would be a good man to talk too.

It's hard to say which is better, don't have much experience fishing down Waterville way and I live in Tralee so I couldn't be objective even if I tried!

For me Tralee/Dingle offers better mixed fishing, plenty of rock marks for pollack, wrasse, triggers etc. or big congers in Dingle marina or various ray marks in Dingle or Tralee with plenty of options for plugging for bass all over the peninsula - plenty of choice and variety.

Culoo in Valentia will throw up good conger after dark, good fish in the 20lb+ bracket and there's always the small ling which get taken here fairly regularly which is something a little bit different, it used to be a cracking mark for wrasse but in the last year or two every time I've been down they've been getting hammered by our brethern who seem to eat everything that comes out of the sea; shape size, colour no matter!

If ye do decide to give the Dingle peninsula another shot pm me closer to the time.

PS I know this might sound daft and maybe it's just me or where I'm fishing but I never seem to do well in July down here. It's a bit of a generalisation but...

cheers liamo, your the second local i chatted to who said july can be a strange month sometimes,september 4 us this year!!! we tried about six times at dawn and dusk at various streamy marks between inch and dingle spun and spun and spun but not so much as a pull off a schoolie!!?? we rock fish mainly for usual stuff and fish for rays, could you believe in last two years we have not one mullet to our names(4 of us fishin) at dingle harbour?? is there anywhere to match fenit 4 mullet?
