hoopefuly going to waterfoot this weekend, never fished there before and not sure if pier or beach would be better. was thinking of trying a bit of spinning and fish baits, any advice would be great or my afternoon might be better spent in or around ballyhornan where i'm sort of familiar with?

waterfoot beach is a good venue and will throw up plenty of fish especially in darkness...at this time of the year darkness would be best...best part of the beach would be at the white house(flat roof) or deeper water the further you go to the right of it.
Tactics- 3hook rigs with size 4's or 2's with rag/lug tipped with makeral in close for flounder....sometimes as close as 20yrds.and out a wee bit further for codling, doggies, coalies, whiting and flounder ect. to worm/fish baits...good tip lug tipped wif bluey works well here at night.
an incoming tide in darkness would be best.
the pier is also not bad,but i prefer the beach to be honest..can throw up some better fish....
hope this helps :D

thanks for the replies, was going to head up on sat afternoon, but might wait till the evening, cant get my hands on rag/lug so it'll have to be mack and sand eel's. i'm still new to this type of fishing so i'll try anything  . does it need to be strip's or chunks of mack?

wee long thin strips for flatties, whiting ect but slightly bigger chunks if targeting doggies....sandeel will be very good for codling and dogs as well!
