WhiteBay cork,netting?

Hi all,
I write this with a lot of fire in my belly.A work colleague of mine who lives in the east cork area, informed me this morning that while he was out and about on tues around lunch time he spotted a red trawler with a cabin in very close to the shore by whitebay.
His curiousity got the better of him and he watched what was going down, while he was watching he saw what were definately nets been set out the back of the boat at an angle not parallel to the shore. He estimated the length to be about 250yds in length, the were also small cork floats visible on the stretch,if anyone is in the area can they please keep an eye out for this kind of indescrimate acts.Just out of curiousity if one does see "strange activity" what should they do apart from ringing the swestern head office only to give details that will be passed on too late for the culprits to be caught in the act.
Any local contacts would be great if anyone knows how to get in contact with these under resourced protectors of our waterways.
Tight Lines.

Well done for highlighting this...disgraceful carry on....would love to know who he's selling it to :x :x .
It's a real shame as it's one of the nicest spots to fish in the harbour.

Hi marlinman. Sorry, only seeing this now. If you see the nets being set, it's alwys worth reporting. The FB might be able t keep an eye on it and catch it being lifted, which is what they really want.

You best bet for contacts is to fing the SWRFB office and ask to speak to a fisheries protection officer. You will often be given a mobile number which you can ring directly next time.

My experience is that if the officers get live and accurate information they will do their best to act on it.
