Hi Guys
Have any of you ever use fish and strips? They are a new sea fishing bait that is made up of naturals like crab, rag lug and fish, in the form of a slow breakdown, biodegradable gel. I have looked at a few websites, and they seen to outfishing naturals from both boats and shore. The y have even been used to catch carp in commercial fisheries in the UK.
If any of you have used these, post up a reply, and let me know how you've got on. If not, then I might order a few pack from the UK, and try them out.

Cheers

I have used them with zero catches. I wish I had tried them in earnest at the weekend though.....just to see. Personally, I would prefer natural baits. Mussel was a killer at the weekend, so do I really want to pay over a fiver for artificial mussel flavouring?

True. I believe they could have a place in the anglers bait box for use when a particular bait is unavailable in a particular region. For instance if you were catching fish on mussel one day, but were fishing the next at the same mark, but with no mussel, would you not use the mussel flavour strips just to try and get some bites? I think I would.
Thanks for your input.
Cheers

Opinion over here in the UK seems to be divided: Some swear by them, others swear at them!

I have tried 5 packets (bought them on eBay). They are useful in your box if you run out of bait, but I have only managed to hook up small fish.
I tend to put them on at least one snood on a 3 hook, that way you are pretty much guaranteed to have something fishing if the naturals get snatched or eaten by crabs, however the crabs do seem to have a liking for these too, but they take longer to eat than naturals.

I has been concluded that the strips do work but normal bait is simply more reliable on the day and the fish are also more used to it. I'd only use them on an emergency .

A mate brought over some of these things from the U.K. which he swore by. Just to prove his point he took a flounder to a crab flavoured one on our first outing!
He left me a pack and I tend to stick one on a 3 hook flapper but have had no joy.
Put it this way; even the doggies wouldn't take the things, which says it all really. Now I come to think of it, if the dogs wont take them they must be brilliant!
