never have use the triplex but hear its good, few lads on here have one, but for your penn rod the 7ht should be ok ,best on clean beachs, not much of a rough ground reel, best of luck with the new reel, let us know if its as good as we hope

What about a Greys Syntra? 13ft 6ins long with a good tip and plenty of power. It's a lovely rod and sells for about £180.

i have a 16ft triplex. i find it works wetter with i fixed spool rather then a multiplier. its a nice rod but my problem is it is aukward when fishing with it in a wind! but it is a nice rod..

14 ft Tripex will work better with a nice smallish multi like the 7ht. had one for a year or two, lovely rod. I wouldn't really be a fan of 16 foot rods and Multis to be honest, as Chris says, they are better off with a fs.

I should have my 7ht mag today from Gerrys  it will be going straigh onto my new LT14-Bullet for a wanging session, but im sure it will go onto any other rod also.. 1st outing this sunday and by all accounts so far it does exactly what it says on the tin! Bring it on.....
Ive never really been a fan of the 15-16ft rods with multis, TBH you wont go wrong with any of the zziplex fishing rods.

Paddy,

FFS why didnt you tell me that you were going to use a 7ht mag on that rod, Paul Kerry said in all the tests he done on that reel the only rod it wasnt suited to was the LT14 Bullet

Tech pic that i really want to see if u can post the pic...
Spool assembly specially the inductor....
The inner side of mag sideplate.....
Just want to compare its with their other mag system....i believe its just the same old magforce implemented to the larger size frame with different spring tension.

Will do joe, as far as i know its a simular set up to the old pro-caster, an additional lip (part of the spool) protrudes that the mags move around.

like this???

Sorry for the delay joe, but my photo bucket account is playing up and wont let me load anything!
Its not a million miles off the mag set up on your revo pic there, along with that there is one bearing attached to the spool and the other is recessed in the opp end plate(both appear to be the same size), seems to be a right mix of a few diff reels(orig/7ht,7ht turbos, procaster, revos to think of a few) the new ergo handle is a right monster it sticks out about 2.5inches, and would take you eye out!! the same cage same spool type bar the extra lip for opperating with the new mag set up, the mag unit itself has 20-diff settings, over all it does seem silky smooth solid and should be for that kinda cash, prob now is its an xmas prezie from the misses and she is not letting me out to play with it before hand, so now i have to wait knowing its in the house somewhere and cant use it until the 25th

Never mind paddy....
Btw...thats is a Team Daiwa Advantage....Magforce-Z breaking system.....they have a few variant....mag-z....mag-v.....mag-v Type-R......the different is all in the spring tension of the inductor and the inductor shape and tapered...some are compatible and can be switch between models....the spool bearing seem to be typical daiwa design...one spool bearing on the shaft under the pin(which is sometime hard to be taken out and need a special tool to be taken off for bearing change)

Abu Revo is using linear mag...the different with other system is....instead of moving the magnet near and far from the spool to control breaking, the shield is use to cover the magnet, the breaking is adjusted and regulated by adjusting the amount of magnet covered and expose.

It should cast good...but like any other first batch reel ,maybe theres still a feww refinement that daiwa still looking into from user....from my experience....there should be less birdie, and the birdie should not be too bad if it occur using this system.....cant say anything bout the distance as i am not using this system for distance....this system is more like controllable cast but maybe this one have been tweak by daiwa for distance....cheeerrss...
