Seymo Quickpro-Epoxy Finish

Ive just finished rewipping a rod and Ive lost the instructions for applying the epoxy Finnish its Seymo Quickpro-Epoxy Finish can anyone in the no tell me how to apply it and how to mix it ive 3 bottles hardener sealer and adhesive :?

Never use seymo.....but generally they re 2 parts epoxy.....in this case i believe the adhesives and the hardener....some brand use the term resin instead of adhesive....mix ratio 1:1.

The sealer is applied to the wrapping thread in case to preserve the color of the thread.

so Ive to mix adhesive and hardener 1 to 1 and how long should i let the sealer dry before i apply the the Finnish

Somethings to add....

CP(color preserver)/Sealer normally use on normal thread....u dont want the color of thread become darker when u apply the epoxies...

If you use NCP thread....theres no need of using CP/Sealer....but some builder used them over NCP to make the color to be more clearer...

Add same quantity of both hardener and adhesive.....add them with spatula....mix them throughly....dont stir them like ur stirring a coffee....constant stirring and keep on the the spatula in contact with the cup/container side and bottom to avoid air bubble....apply to the wrap with brush....its more easily to apply them on the dryer...when finish applying,u can use a burner as well to get rid of the bubble...let it cure....generally thats how i done it...

Generally thats how its work...i cant give the complete comment since i never use seymo quickpro....and maybe the curing time differ....i think better wait for rockhopper....he if i not mistaken using seymo....

I have never used the 3 part.....I use Seymo Pro-Gloss LS and the Pro-Rod sealer....if its the same then the resin and the hardener mix 50/50 and the sealer goes on by itself first.

1/ Put the sealer onto the threads very thickly, let it pool...it dries to a slight gloss as it seals the threads....leave overnight, say about 8 hours.

2/ mix the resin & hardener 50/50...I mix it onto small disposable foil ashtrays.....mix it carefully so as not to make bubbles....I also hold a lighter flame under the ashtray for 3 or 4 seconds just to heat the tray and the mix.....makes it run better.

3/ I use a small soft disposable hair brush to paint the mix onto the threads....press the brush hard into the threads so as to get any air out...make sure you have an even amount all the way around the threads.

4/ To Dry keep turning the rod every few minutes for the first hour....every 10-15 minutes for the 2nd hour then every 30 minutes for the last 4 hours...room temperature is important....it needs to be warm...any cold draft can cause the varnish to bloom.

4/ Leave to dry for 24 hours....any bubbles or marks can be taken off with a scalpel.....then give the threads a 2nd coat the same as the first.

Last tip......

mix resin to hardner 50/50 perfect, will dry fine

mixe 60% resin to 40% hardner will dry fine

mix 40% resin to 60% hardner will never dry and stay tacky

Lots of guys make the big mistake thinking more hardener will make the epoxy dry either faster or harder......Wrong!
