Just bought Diawa sandstorm and a Penn 850 for £130 brand new....Also got some Gulp peeler crab, have'nt used these before and was wondering if anyone could tell me how to present them, (not much experenice baiting up with crabs), i normally use sand eel or mack, hoping to head out some night soon and not sure about what bait for what fish....have'nt wet the line for a while...... thanks

Hi, The rod you got is a belter, I have one too, But I cant say the same about that Gulp stuff, The guy in the tackle up here palmed me off with three different types to try, I try it constantly off anmd on but to no avail, Maybe others have had success but not me...

I also found the Gulp a waste of time and money..

no faith in Gulp,tryed it out a few times found it useless.but good luck with the sandstorm for it is a cracker!!

Have never had much luck ledgering the GULP! crab. However, all is not lost. They can be effective for wrasse during the summer, particularly if the wrasse are induced into a good feeding session with groundbait - I've seen them outfish natural bait on one or two occasions like this, only one or two mind :-)

That's the thread there, have a read, maybe even ask Jo a few questions he's very knowledgeable on softbaits and he's also very helpful.

the gulp crab can be used the same way as natural crab on a float for wrasse. you can also cast and twitch them back close to the bottom if they are rigged weedless.

despite the scent i think they are a visual bait only

I think the thing with the scented softies is just that the scent will help with the fish not dropping it on the initial take, as they will be more convinced that they have something live and not a softie, but the action is what it's all about.

i have had good success on the gulp worms/fish imitations, spinning them slowly like a soft bait, of on a float apart from that not much else
