:? have relined my reels with 15lb line an 35 lb leader,would this be suitable for beach fishing ? an what is a good lenth for the leader, i was thinking about 20 foot for the rod is 12 foot.would like some advice...cheers lads. :?

I think most agree that as a leader you should use 10lb breaking strain per 1 ounce of lead being used. e.g. 3.5oz-35lb, 5oz-50lb etc etc. These are generally regarded as the minimum safe limits. Depends what you're doing though. Blasting baits 100 yards plus off a beach and lobbing a bait 25 yards into rocks aren't the same thing. Common sense and a bit of experience will do you a world of good. The above is considered the general though. Length of your rig plus the length of the rod plus several turns of your reels spool is required too. Try and get out with some experienced guys. Lads on here are pretty friendly and don't seem to mind meeting up. Where are you and when do you fish.

With 35lb leader you wouldn't want to be banging out much more than 3oz with bait or it won't be particularly safe.
60-80lb leader would be the norm if you're throwing 5oz leads with large baits, preferably 80.

:D cheers for the info: lads,i use 3 to 5oz leads,so i will put on a higher B"S for the leader :D thanks again....fish safe :D
