now ive kept this under raps from you because its quite embarrassing, i haven't caught a dab on my home beach in two years  sitting on the beach today with a warm blistering sun on my back and the fish not playing ball i thought back to a time when dabs where a nuisance to say the least i can even remember a specimen i got there a few years back, with no real warning i noticed a huge decrease in their numbers around the same time i noticed a huge increase in velvet crab numbers. i usually use really long snoods sometimes up to a meter, but today i decided to try short snoods about 15cm with some beads and straight away i got a few dabs and a plaice to boot. does anyone know if this makes sence, im at a loss.

They are attracted to beeds and shinny things, i used to always use beeds but the last few years ive only been using plain traces with no attractors because they put bass off. Mayabe this is something to do with it. also the smaller snoods would stop your bait from moving much in the water and with the flat calm conditions your bait was prob not moveing at all. This will prob not answer your question.
