There was supposed to be a spawning population of rainbow trout in one of the lakes there years ago, possibly the only stock in ireland that spawned successfully. I was part of a survey team a few years ago and we got sweet FA so it appears they didn't survive. Think the lake is a water supply and it was drawn down a lot more, so maybe eggs in marginal areas got dried out before hatching.
Anyway, thats probably why you didn't get anything there!

It got fished out, apparently. I've heard of whispers of rumours about some folks interested in restocking and taking care of it next time. Be nice to see.

I take it that its Lough Shure you're talking about. I remember reading about it years ago, apparently it once held the only fully self maintaining population of rainbow trout in the country, so its a pity to hear that.
