Price of bait

Ok so its getting to my favourate time of year again buying bait. as a spur of the moment thing went an bought some bait. Now mayabe its me but i think its highly over priced i wont even mention the tackle shop but i got 60 frozen lug worms, 10 fresh crabs and a packet of mussell. 66 euro is that the price they are or was it a big shop window and they seen me coming?

Those frozen black lug are whats taken the brunt there mate, I've seen them anywhere between 7 and ten euro for a pack of 10, crabs from €1 to €1.50 apiece and your mussel could be anything from a couple of quid to a tenner. Thems the prices I'm afraid....

in dublin expect to pay, about €5.50 - €6 per 10 frozen black lug, €1 a crab and about €4 for muscle anything more and your being done. i make that out to be an even €50 in your case

You could always buy a fork for €20 and dig like hell!!! :shock:

I nearly always dig my own. but i cant seem to get any lug now, no problem with rag or anything else

what part of the country are you in KK, iv never had any problem with getting any bait in dublin (except crab, but thats where Dave Tilly comes in to his own :lol: :lol: )

Achually yea buy a fork and dig hundreds and sell them. I would be rich the price of them! put them in news paper and in the freezer for a few hours that bumbs the price up

In Rush, its grand in the summer theres laods of lug casts and holes on the beach but they all go as soon as the weather gets cooler. Im not sure how to dig them in the estuary and i dont know any other spots. I have no probs with any other bait just lug in the winter!!

dont think they disappear, id say that they just go deeper, sometimes you need to go as deep as 3 forks deep during the hardest of frosts
