fwiw have tried inniscrone, trawee, and dunmoran strand recently
mini pollck, 1 tiny turbot (trawee) and a doggy ( dunmoran) to show for it, reckon dunmoran could be OK, but last visit some mangy dog managed to snaffle most of my bait while i wasn't paying attention :-((

Hi
Try Aughris Head near Dunmoran. Walk from the pier out over the headland to the first landslip, scramble down onto the rocks and head back towards the pier. There is a small island and a deep gully, fish the gully near high water, fish around the island at low water... lures will take pollack, baits will take everything else including decent wrasse...

Hi Davy
I fished Trawee about 2 weeks ago and had a few turbot, 3 trout and a painted ray(which was a surprise). If your looking for fish just to keep a beginner interested try the base of the cliffs at Mullaghmore. Collect a few small crabs or worms and it should keep in fish for the day with wrasse being the main target. Pollack also fall to lures. If you need directions to the mark or somewhere to gather bait give me a shout.

Thanks for the tips lads!
Will probably give aughris a go - its the closest ( less driving = more fishing :-)), nevefished off the rocks there before.r
Nice going at trawee - haven't had much luck there this year - were you fishing at night?? or down the beach away from the everpresent surfers??
Paul - thanks for the offer - maybe another time - would be good to get a few tips - what would you be targeting at mullaghmore?
anyhow thanks for the advice -

There are conger straight down off the end of the pier at both Aughris and Inniscrone .
It is good to see that a few people are reporting from this area . It seemed like I was the only one a couple of years ago and I have hardly been out since then . Did you get many replies by pm ? I would be happy to share what little I know .

Hi Davy
I fished it from about 4pm to about 8pm. Tight to the rocks on the right hand side of the carpark. Did have a few surfers on the beach they only became a problem later in the session however they did say sorry for crossing into my line at one stage. However my mate fished there on Sunday last and when he had just began fishing a surfer approached him and told him he should move because he intented to surf there when the tide rose needless to say he was told where to go. This is a common problem on Sligo beaches and I have stopped fishing many of them because of surfers. I'm not disputing there right to enjoy the sea however if I've took the time to get there before the surfers I'm certainly not moving and the worst about it is I know who'd get the blame when a surfer gets a grip lead stuck in them. Sorry rant over.
