Recommendations for 3 piece spinning or light estuary rod

Tue Oct 09, 2007 6:52 pm

Can someone recommend a 3-piece spinning rod or light estuary rod that would break down into 4-foot or shorter sections. (i.e. would fit in car boot). Not too expensive.

Will consider out-and-out spinning rods or light estuary rods or a compromise rod. Should be capable of casting up to 60 or 70g.

Yeah the beastmaster is a nice rod alright but is probably a little on the light side to use as an estuary rod, really more suited to spinning. I have the 8/9' 15-40gms one myself (I think the 10' one is rated up to 50gms), great little rod no doubt about it but might not be quite what you're after in terms of casting weight.

The Greys Seaspin looks like a nice piece of kit, was thinking of getting one myself a while back but I was looking purely for a spinning rod and was a little concerned that it might be a little too heavy in terms of rating (28g-90g) for what I was looking for. Out of curiosity how is it for casting lighter plugs etc?

Daiwa Vulcan X 4 piece 10-40g is a superb option. Spigots aren't as flaky as on other multi piece rods.
