Hi lads. I'm headin off to the east pier in Dun laoghaire on the weekend. Should I fish off the back of the pier or fish into it at the end of the pier?
Cheers

stay away from the inside unless you want a mini wrasse bash or dogs. on the outside of the pier you fish onto rough ground for big wrasse, small cod, nice Pollock, congers and rockling.tackle losses will be high but its worth it, if you have a decent cast say 100 yds you can cast over clean ground for decent flats, dogs and whiting, a fast retrieve will necesseary to avoid getting snagged on the way in. fish onto the rough ground at high tide and onto the clean at low tide.good luck

fished it yesterday inside and out and as gazo said small wrasse inside but plenty of them had over forty predominately ballans 5 or six corkwing and same in goldsinny good craic on light tackle with float and size ten hooks. had pollock ,pouting, whiting there too any where along the inside is alive with them, by the blue containers i fished, kept moving trying to search out the bigger ones. on the outside my mate had a cod on the float close in and we had bout eight ballans to 3/4 lb and i had one bout 2 1/2 to 3 lb have photo but not set up to attach, sorry. youll see a load of boulders just past the small pier if you wanna call it that rough ground but holds fish. rotten bottoms and junk leads all the way. had no pollock there yesterday didnt show. had scorpion fish there two weeks ago. reckon some hard back crabs might sort out the bigger ballans. but my big one fell to rag alone, orange beads on the snoods worked, keep it simple. hope thats a help
