are surface poppers any good in the dark, has anyone had a bass on one at nighttime? or are spinners better for the dark?

Thirty,
Have had bass/pollack/mackerel in the dead of night on spinners.
Poppers for bass definitely do work after dark, have had some good fish on a Storm Chug Bug painted black, it's nice and loud too which might help the fish locate it.

Its the color to go on nite lure fishing...proven worldwide, freshwater or salwater....it will create a more solid silhouette....

Have had them take chug bugs at night and seen the mate take bass on a jelly worm tight behind a bubble(similar surface disturbance to popper). Have had sea trout at night too on popper flies, in a river though.

As for surface bait.....its not only popper....i bet bass can be cough by using fizzer, slider and walker too. Theres a floating softies/jellyworm too for top water presentation that can be rig weightless for more finesse presentation. All this can produce good result when fish at nite where predator use more of their other sense other than sight like in day time. The key is dont be skeptical, dare to try, confidence and persistence.
