I was just cleaning up the fishing room there and i came across an old rig wallet, filled up with loads of my first rigs...some of them are laughable and really crap lol...compared to the ones i make today that is 8) even tho there are days when i look at the new ones and think the bin is the best place for you my son  its mad how much you leanr over time and when you can psychically see the change, then you know your getting somewhere lol... any1 else look back on old rigs/gear?

I tend to keep my old ones with me in baggies in the rig wallet, in case I end up throwing them into a tackle graveyard one after another, am always paranoid I'll run out on a session cos I bring no rig making gear with me.

The main difference with mine between then and now is the fact that I use tubing for slip knots all the time now, lose a lot less tackle now too as a result of them.

some of the old rigs are laughable alright- but they still caught fish!

i recycle my old rigs sometimes new snoods and hooks do the trick sometimes the whole lot gets the chop depending on where the rig was used (someone has to save the planet  )

What everybody has said so far I agree with BUT are we catching more fish now with all these new rigs than we did with the old ones :?:

If you are then that's great but from my experience I'm not

What i would like to Know is have the fish got Smarter or are we over complicating things to much

What do ye Think :?:

if not as many fish, less competition. improved presentation gets more takes... :)

I haven't blanked in a long time now.
Although how much of this is down to rigs and how much is down to only going out with top class bait is another question.

Ive had the same bait as cortaz, same presentation as him, lobbed it out to the same place as him and blanked, adapted his rig and BANG!! fat bass straight away  in some cases like this it makes all the difference, ive fished new venues and tried new rigs until i found 1 that works... in certain venues a running ledger is no good, same with snoods that are too long/short...
