shockleader

i just loaded some shockleader onto my beachcaster reel.it is quite loose though.is this alright or should i load it again

run it threw your fingers as your puting it on the real and it should be tight enouf you only nead about twenty ft btw

Did you manage to get bait?

With the shockleader, the purpose is to take the strain during the cast. The shockleader, therefore, should be 10lbs for each ounce of sinker weight and be twice the length of your rod with about 5 turns on the reel. This will allow you to take an off the ground cast at full tilt. One thing a lot of people don't allow for when using a shock leader, is the breaking strain of the main rig body. There is little point in having a 60lb shockleader running onto a 20lb rig body! Guess what's gonna snap first!!

And learn the Bimini Twist... Never found a better leader knot.
