Shore fishing in Donegal Bay.

Hi Folks,

I am coming back home in July :D for a few weeks and would like to do a bit of shore fishing. I have fished St Johns point on a few occasions and have done well. I would just like to know of any other marks that are producing at the moment.

I fish quite extensively on the south coast of england, mostly smoothhound ( smut ) bashing and Thornies, all good.

Is there anywhere in Donegal I can get fresh bait like rag or frozen bait like sandeels, squid and Hermit crabs. :?:

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Hi Macker there is no prob getting frozen bait all the tackle shops sell it, fresh bait is another story, Lug you can dig yourself on most beaches but Rag will have to be ordered from the tackle shops in advance most of the good shops can get it.

Fishing all around the coast is pretty good at the mo just depends what your looking for ?

Danny,

Cheers for the quick reply. Is conor Barrett in Budoran deemed to be a good tackle shop, as that will be my local shop, or are there others?

I dont really mind what I catch , although Bass, Pollack on the fly, Wrasse, Bull Huss, Conger, Rays do feature highly on my wish list.

Is mackerel still one of the better baits?

Yea Connor has all the frozen baits and i think he can order in Rag.

All along the coast in the Bay is pretty good for general rough fishing but you would be lucky to get a Bass.

For Ray and Flats you would be better heading to the Swilly there are plenty there at the mo.

Keep an eye on the Shore reports here and you will see whats been caught and where they are getting it.

Happy holls
