Tackle Advice

Hi, I'm looking for tackle advice from experienced sea anglers. I'm more accustomed to game fishing and would like to do some more sea fishing. Could somebody give me advice on what I should buy to get up and running for shore fishing. I bought a cheap and cheerful rod, some lures, feathers, weights etc and I'm interested to know what else I should invest in (apart from a gillie)! If someone could give me some advice on this I'd appreciate it. Cheers :?:

Tripod and waders are essential for shore fishing...Also a head lamp for night fishing...youll need to make/buy some traces for shore work...there are a multitude of these.. this should get you started...you will have to do a lot of reasearch on marks you wish 2 fish...find out what baits works and what time 2...a tide book or even looking online for the tides is crucial..best of luck..try these sites for what you need...

As an experienced game angler, you could have a go at saltwater fly fishing. Something I know nothing about but you might be able to get some information from Jim Hendrick's site:

You'll also find information about lure fishing there. It's a good time of year to be starting with these techniques. The bass season has just re-opened. There are mullet around. These techniques will also fit well with your game angling experience.

What part of the coastline will you be fishing? What sort of rod will you be using (casting weight, what reel, etc?) This information will let folks advise you about what's possible.

If you are just pleasure fishing then get a rucksack. if you intended to fish with bait a seat box would be handy, you can pick up a cheap one from argos. A decent jacket (windproof + waterproof) is essential for the latter half of the year if you intend to go after cod.
