Wexford beaches

Drove down to Clones strand tonight in the hope of a session and maybe a smoothhound. Long drive only to find the beach practically infishable with the amount of weed. As i have no experience on these beaches just wondering is this a problem on them all, some worse than others or just under certain conditions. The NE tonight probably didn't help. Determined to get one of these smoothhound this year, buts its a long drive so would appreciate any advice.

It's a frequent problem. I'll take bad weather over weed any day. Seemed particularly bad last year.

Me to. At least you can fish, but totally unfishable last night. Lost one trace when the weight of weed broke the line and it was only in the water 5 mins.

Sorry this should have been a reply to teacher on my Wexford beaches question. Obviously hit the wrong button.

I think the weed is a resuld of the fine weather were having a few weeks ago. It does seem to be a problem with the Wexford beaches during summer. Maybe Rodger or a few of the local lads can tell you when the beaches normally become fishable again.

I've experienced it throughout the summer. Even without recent heavy weather, spring high tides seem to wash weed off the high water mark back into the sea, making some marks difficult to fish with lures etc.

Going to Pollshine or Balinoulart tonight, is there much weed in the area at the moment?? Well ill let ya's know tomo!!!

Morriscastle is usually fairly weed free, tinnebearna & blackwater can be a bit of a nightmare though for some reason, they are not that far down the coast but have had real problems on both of therm
