advice needed for shore locations co clare

please lads if you could put your thinking caps on for me

i have 2 club shore comps to organise in clare next week , we're staying in the lahinch area,

i have approx 18 anglers

we are restricted to were we can fish ( no rock marks)men over 55)

one will be one the west coast possibly lahinch area

one will possibly be the south coast between carrigaholt & poulnasherry

im looking for a venue that casting out over the 100 is not needed and chances of a blank be slim

locations mentioned are not set in stone, due to possible feedback

i know im asking for a lot but any feedback will be appreciated

mmmmm........ That's a tough one, especially a mark near Lahinch..... I know a Beach that might be worth a crack.... I have personally caught flounder Bass and Mullet here, but Like many of the shallow surf beaches in the area, your looking at a few blanks for sure.... It might be worth a look though.....

I haven't been fishing clare for a good while but I'll try to give some advise. I'm sure there will be others that can give better but at least you'll have another response..

Alot of the clare rock marks are easily accessible so don't discount them but you'd need others to advise which ones would be best. I guess Spainish point,lahinch, lough donnel or doughmore would be worth a shot but I won't be trying there till september. send a pm top neilus as he's fishing the area the whole time.

For south clare poulnasharry is usually the best competition venue and huge distances aren't usually necessary but I haven't heard of it fishing very well recently or the rest of the estuary for that matter. Carrigaholt is another nice venue and for a comp low water up as high tide will have you on the road side but distance casting is often a must here.

From fishing comps for few years in the area unless your willing to fish into darkness on the beachs or estuary marks a good few blanks will be had.

this isnt a tip on were to fish its rather a tip on were not to fish. i fished pollinsherry last week we started fishing at low water there were a few dogs caught a huss and a small tornie ray so we thaught that when the tide started to come in we would be in with a chance of a few decent fish. unfortuniately all the tide brought with it was weed and tons of the stuck it was unfishable the second the line hit the water the weed was building up on it and dragging it down the beach it was the worste ive ever seen. we tried casting over it and just lobbing it out but it was all the same. the wind was blowing from a westerly direction perhaps that had something to do with it. apparently it is holding plenty of tornies but dont fish it if the wind direction is westerly unless your into catching sea weed.

What samo says in correct. Poulnasharry has strong tides and when the weed is there as it often is, it can be unfishable outside of slack water so neaps can produce easier fishing. Crabs are also very active here.
