Ahh ye can't beat mackeral season!!
As Far as I know KK there have been a few taken in Howth.

Lightest I have at the moment is a 6wt, so it will have to do. Might try pick up a nice 4wt for the river stuff. You'd get some fight off a Mackerel on a 4wt...... :shock:

Tried for an hour off Howth last night and nothing.. but seen birds diveing closer to home around the Skerries area so might give there a try over the weekend!!

Will be doing a bit of spinning and plugging tomorrow evening at Greystones so I'll let you know but think it's still a bit early for the Macks .

macks are fun on the 4wt, real fun though is when a 3lb pollack takes a liking to your fly

And was down Greystones at the stream from 6.30 till 9.oo tonight,ht 8ish,good conditions,was using toby,dexter wedge and crystal minnow,nothing happening.

fly lines are given different weights dependent on the weight of their 1st 30 feet, which is matched to a specific rod weight.this dictates the type of fishing the rod is usd for, a 2 wt fly fod is extremely light where as a 10wt is quite powerful and suitable for larger species. for bass or pollack a 9wt is a happy medium.

Oh right..cheers,thought there was only dry and wet lines for fly fishing,think I'll stick to what I know best :lol:
