Only person that can buy a new Zippy for that kind of cash Roger is me... :D What Century are you looking at Croppy to narrow it down for lads in the know as such? I had a long hard look at the AA match rod and thought it was a beaut but havent tried one in anger, eventually picked up a zippy instead cheap. With that kind of budget, its well worth taking a good look on ebay as it will open up realms to you.

I have the AA match. Lovely rod. superb action on it. I find it very forgiving when lashing out a 5 oz weight. I have only had a couple of months therefore I'm only getting used it myself. It has accounted for my biggest casting distance so far.
BTW gerry's are doing them for 170.

i have cast the century tip tornado and the anyfish anywhere match.. my personal choice of those two would be the century.. i found the AA rather heavy.. but it did have some good casting performance.. the century isn't as heavy (but compaired to zippy still has weight) and has a rather smooth casting feel to it which i felt comfortable with..

i've had about 3 or 4 casts with each rod so i'm not an expert on either rods..

i would go with century, they are a long established company and havea pretty good rep...in my eyes anyway, they havent failed me... the tip tornado super match is a lovely little rod id well reccommend it, tho its about 500 quid for 1 down here...

Hi Fintan,

I have a Century Carbon Metal and TT Lite and love both of them, excellent casting rods, bite detection is great, very slim and plenty of power where required! No experience with the AA's but they seem to be getting glowing reports all round.

Hope this helps somewhat, you can have a chuck with either.

i have the aa match and find its a great rod, tired the centry c3 and didnt like it, my advice would be that you try both rods before you buy and find the one that suits you as you could be stuck with a rod you dont like. as for the aa match being a heavy rod, i am a big lad so i dont notice as much as weak mr74

quality rods

When it comes to decent quality rods its more to do with he angler than the rod, and this from a tackleholic.....
