Rush, Loughshinny, Skerries or Balbriggan?

Hi all,

could anyone point me in the general direction of a good mark along this stretch of coast?

Have a beach-caster and a spinning rod and would like to target pollack if possible.

Looking through previous posts here, it's been said that spinning often produces fish. Any advice very welcome.

A VERY long time ago I used to use a Darragh 14 to fish the bank in the middle of the channel between the harbour and Lambay Island. It produced red cod, pollack and mackerel by the tonne in the main, none to any massive size, but certainly well worth a crack. The harbour itself was good for dogs, flats and congers, with mullet in the summer feeding on the offal from the boats. To the south of the harbour, fishing directly out you can contact sand and rock - mixed ground - and there were smallish pollack there, in amongst pouting, poor cod, rockling and other species.

As I say, a long time ago, but if you get a chance to get out on a boat, the shallow bank (no more than 3 metres in places at LW and choppy as hell in anything above force 2) is well worth a visit. Alive with fish...

Unfortunately I don't have access to a boat at the moment, so ideally I'm looking for shore marks.

Would anyone know about the rocks between Skerries and Balbriggan?
There's a nice looking spot just opposite the grounds of Argillan Castle, kinda rocky, although I'm not sure what access is like.

iv had pollock in the channel between the swimming spot in skerries and red island at high water, does be full of mackerel in season aswell... have seen shoals of mullet in the harbour also..theres a good mullet spot in donabate, if you get to the beach car park and head left towards the cliffs youll come across a long concrete walkway out to see..its an outlet of some sort ( dont like sayin it but its most likely sewerage) does be full of mullet in calm conditions, probly some bass there too, only fishes well when theres not too much swell tho.. plenty of doggies in loughshinny too.. you can see the packs of them at night (with a torch obviously) at low water when its warm, then again ya might blank! :lol: as iv done in these spots a lot lately :roll: ... hope this helps, happy fishin
