Hi guys.....just wonder....anybody out there ever try to do squid fishing here in ireland?? Its like spinning using a squid jig from shore usually in a rocky place to catch squid and cuttle fish.Is it possible??Is the species exist here??

Got good numbers of them the year before last at Culoo in Valentia - late september/early october I think, dunno what species though...

Long orange ones about 1ft 1/2 2ft... great bait - still have some in the freezer!

I caught one in Kells Bay last September while jigging. I would be lying if I said I was targeting them but it can be done. :D

Brown squid.... can get big, late summer autumn is ideal period, but you need a depth of water such as you get at Culoo and ideally near darkness as they will come higher up in the water column as it gets dark...
