Booked a week in Castletownbere, any advice appreciated.

I've seen that some of the lads here are from Inch and think I've even seen reports from the strand that's walkable from the cottage I'm renting, so was wondering has anyone any good information on this place http://www.eyeries.com/.

Was wondering what the story is with baits to be used etc from the area, is there anyone can source peeler in the area that I could arrange to meet and buy some local stuff off of?
I'll be there from the 5th until the 12th of May.

John Angles is the guy who owns the cottage.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Eoin.

Hi Eoin,

Am finding the post a bit confusing... Inch as in Inch beach is on the Dingle peninsula, Inches looks like it's 2 peninsulas down on the Beara

Eoin,
'Tis Castletownbere you have booked, not Inch. West Cork rather than Kerry. Inches House is John Angles place.

Give John himself a call. Grand guy. He runs a good charter and also fishes from the shore. I'm sure that he'll know what's going on in in the area.

Kevin Brain is not a million miles away if caught out for bait

Dromgowlane house's site might give you some info

I'm sure there are plenty guys on here who have fished these areas.
You'd do far worse than get on board with John for a day or two as well.

The day with the boat is quite expensive, I'll see what the story is when we're there, I'd be into it but budget may prevent it when it comes to it. If he needs to make up numbers and we can get on at 55 a head I'll do it, but won't hire the boat at 350 for two people.

Thanks for the bait information.

Eoin,
Try the beach at Garinish or spinning from the rocks either side of it. Should see you manage a few bass.

Thanks pete, that's the kind of info I was looking for.

Is it worth bringing down a load of peeler, it'll more than likely have come from the Limerick estuary or would I be better just sourcing local baits?

June 2006

I had a couple of decent evening sessions at Dursey Sound :-
pollock, coalies, mackerel and wrasse, spinning and on the float.

I also tried the lovely little strand at Ballydonegan, sadly without
success. However, plenty of small pollock and mackerel spinning off the harbour-wall.

Hi Eoin

Give me a call before you come out (027 60330) and I will give you the latest info on where is fishing and I also stock bait, squid sandeel etc if you need any.
Worth bringing some rag with you as we have had good results especially on the wrasse and pollack float fishing.
I am at Dromagowlane House at Adrigole so not a million miles from you.
You should also get good info from John at the house.

http://www.swrfb.com/fishing/sea/beara2.htm 7 of us were out with John on his boat 2 weeks ago and we caught 11 species of fish and a octopus.
