did some testing of knots last night after a rig building session and found the double uni knot out performed all others by at least 1/2 a hernia and was also resonably easy to tie one thing to consider when trying to do the job on a windy beach or boat with wet hands!!any one elses input welcome oh yes has anyone tried using braid shock leaders ie 30lb mainline to say 80lb leader ?

i agree with rog 100%... i use the dopuble uni over any line to shock now...its strong and easy to tie..and it joins braid to mon easy as pie...

The Uni-to-Uni connection is something of a miracle for its strength and simplicity.

If the mono and braid are not extremely dis-similar in size, another simple and easy connection is the Bristol Knot (aka - midnight knot, no-name knot).

In our offshore fisheries here, knotless splicing of mono to Jerry Brown hollow-core spectra braid is the new HOT technique.
