Creevy to Rossnowlagh

There is much rocky coastline between Creevy and Rossnowlagh in Donegal bay but except for the castle, it seems unsafe to fish. Anyone able to advise? P-mail me.

alan, you should have a chat with pete, that's his old stamping grounds. He should know first-hand all about that area. Bet he'll be along shortly. Unless he's out fishing......... :)

I have fished that area for years and there are some great spots all along the coast. Getting down to the shore can be tricky in places but there are a few handy spots to get to. There is also a walkway all along the top of the cliff from creevy to rossnowlagh with plenty of points to get down to the shore.
One of the handy spots is on the way down to Rossnowlagh before you pass Smugglers Creek Restaurant you can take a left down by some holiday homes and park, there is easy access down onto the shore. The fishing has been pretty slow of late but i did here that there was a Army Comp there a few weeks ago and they caught plenty (Bass,Flats,Pollock)
Usually the fishing starts getting good from June onwards.
I took my Daughter fishing on Sunday past at Creevy pier for a few hrs but only caught the cold and 1 Hugh crab (very nice) We had to leave as it got dark but i would say it should have fished better from then on.

The safety issue is fishing on flat, rocky platforms below steep rocky cliffs. Being cut off by the tide is a possibility but the main difficulty is in a heavy sea - slippery rock and rogue waves.

There are a few spots along that stretch, its pretty much all rough ground and there are some very big pollock on it. Any time I've gone there its been pollock we were targetting so I'm sure there are good wrasse there too. Place i usually went is a bit hairy though as you have to sit on your arse and inch yourself around a ledge(45ft drop onto rocks below) before u can get down to rock platform.

They are low laying rocks generally so best avoided in anything other than calm weather Alan.
