where to go?

Tue Mar 06, 2007 6:36 pm

I'm bringing a friend out fishing this Sunday and he has never fished before.

I really want to go somewhere where he can catch a fish(even something tiny) to get him into the sport.

Any idea's for the Dublin area? info appreciated

Have you thought of going to the Dunree/Fahan area your reports should attract plenty of views. Try fishing 2-9pm.

Greystones Northbeach to the left of the pier usually throws up whiting, doggies, Dabs and small scorpionfish, these would be most common species, Further up the northbeach at the Archway threw up of most the same species, never caught Scorpionfish there but have had plenty of Coalies to a decent size also the odd plaice and Flounder too haven't fished that far up the northbeach though in a good while! Southbeach at the driving Range or through the first entrance onto the Southbeach in front of it there is a small outcrop of rocks you can see them at low tide or if covered they are usually easy to see as the water looks Whiter over them, Fish to the left of them! throws up much the same species, Bait can be most things, Rag, Lug,Mussel,Sandeel and Mack...have found worm and mussel or worm and Mackeral to work the best for me! Also have found you dont need to cast far at all usually catch within the first 30-40 yards!
But after saying that it is better as its getting dark or is dark have never had much luck during the day! Found 2 hours before and after high tide the best :)
Other people can prob give you better info, this is what i found when i fished it, hope it help!!!
