you need to buy a ct cage or have a tackle shop do the conversion for you if you just hack that bar off the reel will collapse under pressure

If you take a hacksaw with a nice new blade.....make sure the cage is well secure and wont slip.....cut that bar at either side leaving about 3mm from the side of the cage....then mask the cage off in case you slip with thefile your gonna use next....take a good smallish file and file the ends of the bar down to within about 1.5mm, remove the masking tape......you have a CT conversion.
Another way is, almost as above but after you cut the middle out of the bar, knock the 2 threaded studs out...then file the ends of them....this way when you put them back in and go to take the side plates off, those studs can fall out.....as long as you dont lose them, either method is the basics of how its done.
If you going to buy a new cage anyways, you've nothing to lose.
If you get stuck give a shout.
Tom.
