Well last year i followed a fishing Mag's advice i wrapped them up in newspaper strips and put them in a fridge which to my knowlege kept them as good as new for the two days they were there.

hello mate, you have to gut the lug, use a sharp blade remove the
innards leave the tails on , wrap in news-paper then freeze, they are
not as good as fresh bait, but what bait is, still well worth doing,

all the best stevo.

I think I heard of someone salting their gutted lug to preserve them. Is this a good idea?

I have some salting here at the moment, they've been in salt almost a week now, will bag them off and freeze them later. I gutted some and some I left whole. I've picked up a few coalies and that on salted, it rehydrates when it's in the water a few minutes.

I have a good link on preserving and storing different baits, maybe I even got it linked from here, I can post it later.

Hi there i wonder if anyone can help.I have about 80 fresh lugwormes which i am going to freeze. After i have guted them do i just wrap them in newspaper and freeze them or do i have to put them first in salt for a short time.Or is it better to live the guts and freeze them.

keep them in trays as mr green says, dont crowd the tray put about a centimetre of water to stop bacteria spreading, change the water everyday and check for and remove any dead or gammylooking worms everyday and they'll be grand for 2 weeks or more.
