New TV Program - Accidental Angler Sun 12 Nov BBC2 8:00pm

all you need is someone who can explain what they are doing how they are doing it.. and hopefully catching fish while that are doing it..

We need a novel twist ... Something that hasn't been done before ...

well we could send drew out and blank on every episode.. that will provide the novel twist

I'd love to be involved too lads, bein thinkin about this a bit lately, I've a bit of experience in the T.V i've been studyin media in College for the past 5 years! But i wont wont be back in the country til Next may properly! But seems that Stevecrow and some of the other lads seem to have a bit of experience themselves so it could defo be more than just a mickymouse job if taken seriously!

i'm sure if we do get something started there is enough experience available
and will take a bit of time to plan.. funding etc etc...

for those that think its just take a camera out and record a few fish.. there is alot more to it than that..

If anyone is serious about making a pilot gimmi a shout, im a professional sound recordist with all my own gear who has worked in the TV/film industry for the last 11yrs on just about every sort of prog there is inc. fishing ones. Obviously i know an awful lot of cameramen some of whom would give their services for free for a project like this (it been discussed many times over the years!) You will need to knock up a well shot/presented and directed pilot of about 5/6 mins long and then send it to the various broadcasters for the commissioning rounds, I say all (LOL) but there is alot to it really, be advised if your gonna do it you need a decent idea of what your doing or you gonna be laughed at by the broadcasters even if you and other anglers think its great. As i say if you are really serious i can help.

Now to get back on topic, the current BBC angling show is excellent i think. It helps convey that there is alot more to fishing that just catching fish, as lumpy said the fish are a bonus. Really enjoyed the first episode about Mahseer though they did just rip off the original outstanding Wilson prog (same river, same marks, same guides even the same host!!) Bhutan was good too but the New Zeland show "A River Somewhere" (one of the best angling shows ever alongside A Passion for Angling) with Rob Sitch and Tom Gliesner had also done the same location a few years back, I wonder what next week will be.

That was a great show i used towatch it when i was a kid, I remember that one where he jumped out of the tree actually :) i remeber thinkin he was a lunatic!

I put this post up originally in the forlone hope that we might actually see some salt water fishing at some stage. Looks like this is about as close as we're going to get. London?!! Exotic location my arse!

Paul, I think most of us can forgive Henry for all his shortcomings bar one.... He will never be forgiven for wearing that stupid ponytail....... :lol:

Well i did say almost :D . I totally agree on the pony tail, but that is now gone. That, and the over use of the word "AWESOME". As I recall even his mother ticked him off about that and as everyone knows mother is always right (even when she isn't) :wink: .

Jeez, I guess I'm a fan of old Henry. There, I've said it.... Might not be perfect, but he's the only game in town right now as far as our sport is concerned.. His sheer enthusiasm for sea angling comes through in every program. He ain't perfect, but he has my respect for raising the profile of sea angling on the telly.

What little coverage there is seems to be about course fishing mostly and then game second. Sea angling barely gets a look in, apart from him. What I've seen of course fishing on the telly, it seems to be all repeats... Different program, different presenter, but always the same fish. . :)

Last night's episode was 'DIRE'..You just knew that the bam was going to pull a tiddler out of the hat before the end of the episode. As it was he spun it out until 2 whole minutes from the end and then unbelievably started blubbing whilst holding a magnificent 5 inch brownie. What a W***ER.... When I grow up I want to be a pasty faced angling presenter with marbles in me mouth and a double barrelled name like Torquil FFordyce - Smythe.......Or do I :shock: ??
