that was a pretty small one for the commons!!
not normally used but a cocktail tried non the less, 2 squid, mackerel and coalie!maybe trout fillet on the far side too!!!

have seen an article in totalseafishing a few years back of mark jones in wales using baits easily of this size for his conger shore fishing and casting them ok on a ron thompson accelarator or something similar plus lead.

we use double mackeral fillets wrappeed as a sausage on a 6/0 pennel, sometimes with a small squid bound on as well for huss down here off the shore without any problems. casts 70-80 yards with an over the head thump.

I'm man enough to admit that im scared of it! :)
I suppose im not used to using big baits like that as i dont really go after specimen fish or go boat fishing,REALLY haven't got the stomach for it i'd be sick on a boat!(Could be good ruby duby if i have a fish dinner before hand) :)
