where in youghal ?

All baits work there i was using lug also. Instant bites on lug frantic little pulls,was thinking dabs but i didn't have any small rigs with me to find out i was geared up for Youghal cod and ray.

For me theres only 1 part of the tide that ballycotton doesnt fish, bang on lowtide for maybe an hour. Straight after that time you will be into fish, right down to low water again.
we tryed an experiment the other night i fished frozen bait and my mate fresh peeler i had non stop bites on frozen mackerel, squid , razor and peeler but brought in doggie after doggie after whiting, my mate had 6 cod 1 whiting and a doggie on fresh peeler we fished just before high water to an hour after low water , he had his codling over high water and on the dropping tide.

Comfort fishing in bad weather

Was that the same mark you were on Saturday night. I fished it Sunday morning with MAC it wasn't great.

Yes the same one, but was quite enough initially until a couple of hours into the rising tide, then an onslaught on hungry fish for an hour and a half before quitening down again. Picked up close to high tide with the last five fish including the largest of the night.

Did you loose a pulley rig there? I hauled in one very similar to the rig you recently described somewhere on the site, with a red hook.

No, never use red hooks

Might have been me I sometimes use a short shank red hook for the pennell hook. Only if I'm feeling artsy when making the rigs
