fresh lug always outfishes any other bait whenever im fishing

Here we go again personal opinions which people are entitled too.IMO frozen blacks are not shite more like the person using them isn't using under the correct conditions or for the correct species and I wouldn't use freshly dug lug for all the tea in china, however lug that's a few days old now that's a different story ,but that's my own personal opinion
Who gives a toss with whatever people think regarding certain baits ,so long as it works for you be confident in it and "jog on" others who it hasn't worked for because I can guarantee that it has worked for plenty more people.
If fishing was so predictable in terms of specific baits etc it would be soooooo boring,in fact a person might as well just read a text book on the subject and that would be that.So thank goodness it is as unpredictable at times as what it is and to anyone that is now totally confused on this great bait debate i'll just say experiment experiment and experiment until you find something that gives you confidence because the chances are it will work again under similar conditions 8) despite what the local expert micky joe sprouts to anyone willing to listen.

Right - I gave the frozen black lug tipped with squid a go down the local mark. Lots of interest - mainly from the crabs - but I did pick up a few flatties, which I was pretty happy with as I was expecting to blank to be honest. It might not be the best bait in a lot of circumstances but viable option to use in the local area, which is what i'm looking for.

I appreciate the comments and advice and picked up some useful pointers.

Try mackerel instead of squid to tip off the next time should get you a few more fish

1, you have to know where to use it,
2, you have to know how to use it,
3, you have to know what species to target with it.

Every bait you will ever use will fall into those 3 categories. Nothing in angling is ever a 'one size fits all'.

Hi could you shed some light on your reply please.

1, In general where would it best used. Surf beach , calm estuary , mixed ground . Ect.

2, this question has me puzzled. So any info would be good.

3, what species would this work for or is there different ways of using this bait to catch different species.

I have used it in the past when I used to fish often but it never shined any brighter then any other bait.
So any help on this one would be good. Thanks

That's called experience, from a few years of trying and testing it over different situations. Angling is a long curve and as long as you are at it you will always be learning.

Agreed experience is the key but not the answer. I have fished for over 20 years on the shores of the west coast and as I've said black lug is no better here than any other bait, unless there is 1 better beachs to us it? 2 better ways to present it? . 3 and maybe the species are not as common on the west coast as the east coast that you would catch with it? Ether way my first post is still open to answers .

I see making an absolute fool of yourself and trying to apologise is the new black !!!!![/quote

where the is the attempted apology in this post ?... this is the whole problem...look, and read what is posted, then look and read it again.and THINK before you post...perhaps this is the level that staffo was previously refering to,Shane hit the Nail on the head..people are entitled to their opinions and are given the opportunity to air them here, but ridiculing people with sarcasm is puerile and contributes nothing to the debate.

There is nothing for kstaff to apologize for. In my first comment I made a statement based on my own experience with frozen black lug. I accept that this was a gross generalization and that FBL is a good bait in certain conditions and for certain species. Kstaff was right to correct what I said. But for my own fishing on the south coast it is not a bait I would use.

enjoyable read.. to hear the different opinions regarding frozen black lug
a few people getting excited but i don't see the big fuss personally
just give your opinion and respect others
no one should rubbish other people's opinions or insist how things should done!
a couple of big egos on here by the sounds of it. disappointing

personally, i like someone telling me that a certain bait is useless.. that it won't catch fish.
and then i prove them wrong
lol
