I missed your post yesterday sean, i went to the wall in monkstown, it was very tough going, so we hopped on the car ferry to cobh, it would have been nice to fish carpets,
No weed in cobh either and no cod just pouting and dogfish and a single whiting one of the lads did have a 9 1/2 lb conger on last cast.
I might chance carpets tomorrow night, cheers

well he also left you with your rod.

If you are to wander away from it let the clutch a bit loose and tie it down

I was reeling in at the time and I could feel the whiting on the line then thump then nothing and I reeled in a head of the whiting on the end of my hook, an inch higher and I would have lost the rod and reel.
Is the carpets pier in Youghal open today, I'm very tempted to head down there today.

Fished Ferrypoint last Sunday it was thick with weed even on a slack tide
4.1mt tide on Saturday, it will be hard going fishing the estuary you'll be lucky to get an hours fishing either side of low water.

All the same place.
It's called the carpets because Youghal Carpets had a bit of a factory there.

.
there's a good chance it will remain closed on a more regular basis regardless of whether a ship is docked or not due directly to the amount of litter anglers have been leaving behind them. took a walk down there last week and it resembled a tip really was disgraceful.

There are plenty of public bins in the town, there's no excuse for littering the quay

Why not just take the rubbish home and dispose of it accordingly .People are well able to go on about certain people littering during the summer and rightly so but the state of youghal recently is a disgrace and its not the macky bashers ,yes these individuals are still littering if fishing for codling but the way lots of others are leaving the quays, beach, greenpark is a thorough disgrace nevermind the cut of the Abbey.
For goodness sake stop the littering before we all suffer and lose access to some of the best fishing marks in the country,i mean its not rocket science or is it? just bring an extra bag for any rubbish at the end of the session and dispose of it responsibly wherever that might be.

You are spot on. Its a disgrace the amount of litter left after a lot of sea anglers in lots of places for the supposedly more refined anglers who aren't Mack bashers
