Chessie,

Not sure if you are still checking into the forum but I have an opportunity to go out Sunday and Monday Nov 10 & 11 from Widwood crest in New Jersey chasing Stripers. I think we intend "chunking with bunker" as its called but any advice you could provide would be welcome.

I understand this end of NJ was not impacted by Sandy.

Private boat fishing with some work colleagues.

Donal.

Dog:

Cape May is where we go for summer vacation. You will be fishing the Cape May Rips at the mouth of the Delaware Bay. I hear they are doing well and most stripers (Bass) will be large 20-30 lbs. Hope for clear water. Silty is not as good.

Bait is fine but hope you have some large lures like 6-8" storms (soft plastic with paddle tail and lead built in), jigs and spoons. Sometimes they come up top for surface lures.

You may also find a fluke (flounder) or tow and possibly big, mean Bluefish.

Go onto The Bass Barn and read up under the Delaware Bay board. Also search cape may rips fall

Don:

Well how did you do? I read reports for that weekend and sounded like water was off-color and fish were hard to come by. It can be a magical area.

Chessie,

We boated 3 fish. I got one about 16lb. The bunker heasds seemed to be the bait of choice. Water was quite murky.

Thanks for your advice, definitely something i will try again.

Good for you Donal. You did good. That was a tough weekend for bass fishing.
