Don't throw your toys out of the pram because you think people are being secretive. First of all it is highly likely that at least 99% of the people that read the post could not comment because they know nothing about cod fishing in that part of the country. Secondly you asked a question about cod fishing from a boat but posted it in the Shore Angling Q&A forum whereas it would have been more appropriate in the Boat Angling Q&A forum.
SAI is undoubtly the best source of sea angling information in the country. Most of what I know about sea angling I have learnt from this site, although not from posting questions, just by reading most the posts. You pick up all sorts of useful tips. But dont expect people to give you marks that they may have spent years finding. I have spent many hours watching motionless rods in order to discover the best time of the tide and the coditions to fish certain marks, so I would not just hand out such hard earned information to somebody I dont know. The information is there but you have to apply it yourself, dont expect to be spoon fed.

Rigs, anything should be good as long as it has hooks. No joke. If it was me i would fish with a pulley pennel or maybe a two hook clipped down if i wanted maximum distance. as has been said, cod are scarce up that direction so its a lottery really. So yeah, a pulley pennel with three or four lugworm and maybe some mussel all tied up with bait elastic. The bigger and juicer the better, even small cod aren't afraid of big baits. That casting distance would depend on the venue, but i would be tempted to generally put it as far as i can.
