I agree with blaker when an angler has to cheat its really only themselves that they are cheating.

Great idea Marlin and shark records are now allowed to be estimated as long as they are verified. Killing a fish just because its big has always been a pet hate of mine. I was fishing with a friend outside Eyries in west cork from the shore a few years ago when he caught a Conger of well over 40lbs as that was as high as our scales went, but there was no way he was going to kill such a fine fish and back it went. In the age of digital technology I'm sure a photograph of the fish with somthing for scale would give a reasonable verification of weight. Anyway when you catch a fish of that size you don't need anyone else to pat you on the back as long as you know you caught it.
