think i started around 12 or 13 and have never looked back to be honest im crap a casting fixed spool now,,,,,, keep the mag breaks right up and keep the spool tight enough with time you will get the feel for the reel and find where you like the line to be topped up to,,,,
stick to it and birdys will prob be guaranteed but will decrease with practice
