Lug v's Rag

I dug some lug in west Cork and took them to Kerry last weekend. I fished at Inch but didn't catch anything to write home about. I met a guy who told me that the local lug will catch fish much better than worms from elsewhere. Does anyone think there is any truth in this?.

during the day rag is great but at night or in winter i find lug will out fish it any day, who goes cod fishing in winter without lug ? NOT ME!!
